WICKET KEEPER clearly wasn't 100% when well beaten on handicap at Ayr in July, yet he'd previously looked a useful sprinter in the making when landing maiden/novice contests upon joining Ed Bethell and is well worthy of another chance back from a break. Last year's winner First Folio is an obvious threat following his solid third in the Great St Wilfrid, whilst Al Karrar is a fascinating runner back from a 3-year spell on the sidelines and commands a check in the betting for clues.

Useful form as a 2-y-o in 2022, winning maiden at Windsor (6f) prior to finishing second in Goodwood Grp 2. Not seen to best effect when fourth at listed level on final outing of that year and whilst absent since, the market can prove useful now handicapping on this belated return (has been gelded).

Won the Super Sprint at Newbury last summer. Showed he's trained on when sixth of 10 in 6f listed race there on reappearance but hasn't kicked on since, starting out for new yard when fourteenth of 19 in handicap at York (6f) 54 days ago, albeit not ideally placed. Cheekpieces on 1st time.

On the up when landing 6f maiden/novice contests earlier this season and clearly not himself when last of 18 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to soft, 4/1) 59 days ago. Given a break ahead of this and likely he can get back on the up on the back of just 4 career starts.

Record stands at 3-4 over this C&D (including success in this race 12 months ago). Not the force of old but confirmed he's still capable on his day, posting a very good third in 17-runner Great St Wilfrid at Ripon (6f) 33 days ago. Player with his rider again taking off a valuable 5 lb.

    Verdict
Fairly useful heavy ground winner at 2 yrs who has been below that level during a light 2025 campaign, off 3 months prior to finishing eleventh of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 37 days ago. Needs to step up a good deal on that if he's to feature.
