LE MESSAGER (2) was strong through the line and finished less than a length from the winner when resuming from a nine-month break over 1400m at Ascot last start. That was his first run since crossing the Nullarbor. Key runner who should take a lot from that hit-out. DATE WITHTHE DEVIL (5) did his best work late when runner-up over 1200m on the inner track here a fortnight ago. That was the first appearance since November. Bolted in over 1400m at this stage last prep. Right in contention. I'M NIPOTE (1) progressed nicely last time out at the second run of the prep, just prevailing in a Class 3 over 1400m at Ascot. Capable of repeating the dose but will need a bit of luck from a wide draw. STARWALKER (4) has been about the money all prep and from a much better barrier today can play a significant role. SIDE SHOW (3) is racing in great heart and with Pike taking over looks certain to be in the finish again.
